Carol and her husband Doug put down roots in Swannanoa in 1999, and have been active community volunteers ever since.  Carol has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the University of Virginia.  In addition to her involvement with FANS, she serves as Vice Chair of the Board of the Friends of the Swannanoa Library and is a member of the Swannanoa Grassroots Alliance.  She’s also a Buncombe County Master Gardener Volunteer, and a past member of the board of the Black Mountain‐Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce, the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Valley Endowment Fund, Asheville GreenWorks, and other community organizations. She enjoys reading, hiking, rowing, biking, gardening, traveling, and hanging out with family. Carol and Doug have a son and two grandsons who also live in Swannanoa.
